Northville Art Exhibit
I was thrilled to have my silk painting selected among many entries to be included in the Northville Art Exhibit, West of Center.
"This unique work of art is a silk painting using 10 mm haboti cultivated silk, painted with Jacquard silk dyes. Various techniques were used to create this traditional African design. The ancient aged appearance is a result of using a resistad gutta from New Zealand to outline the design, Jacquard silk dyes to provide the vivid intense color, and a faux batik technique to create texture and add an illusion of depth. The silk painting is carefully wrapped in paper and steamed for 2-3 hours to set the color. The artist’s husband made the custom 39-1/2” x 28” custom frame of solid figured bubinga wood, also known as African rose wood." |
